Shooting Day Story

The Story:

During a suicide intervention with Jen, Kate is confronted by Debbie - the high school friend that Kate failed to save.

The Project:

Flash Foward is a month long workshop during which, you select a goal that you don't think you can do by yourself in a year and with the support of a team and a coach, you accomplish it in one month.

My project is to complete filming on this short script. I may include editing, but right now, it's filming.

Dedicated:

This project is dedicated to my high school friend,  Debbie Knowlton-Davidson, who exercised her demons, but recently lost her battle to breast cancer and to John Horner. Rest in Peace.

Shooting Day Stories

Everyone arrived at my house by 9 am and the last of the actors and crew left at 2 am.

We shot the entire short in a single day. We used my house for the two characters homes and trekked over to a nearby school for the flashback.

Our editor recruited local kids at a ball tournament to be the extras, under the watchful eye of several parents who also tagged along.

Valuable lessons - editors on set are worth their weight in gold because they watch to make sure you have coverage.

Catering is critical and formed the majority of the budget, we had brunch, lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the grueling day.

Next time, make sure everyone knows what their responsibilities are (ie who's buying the recording media) so you don't have to run out to the store and delay the shoot.

And even when you're filming at home, put up signs so that salespeople and canvasser's don't ring the doorbell during critical moments.
